With the advent of the Third Party Administrators (TPA) approximately 15 years ago, everyone throughout the industry saw this process as a step forward in the cumbersome administration of the Windshield Replacement and Payment process.  The Insurance companies realized huge operations expense savings by not having to handle the claims administration for millions of claims. As time proved out however, the TPAs put a strangle hold on the independent shops by dictating where work would be done and what price would be paid, and those prices have virtually eroded any profit margin. This resulted in many of the independently owned shops to being forced to accept the lower payment or decline the work. Independent glass shops are now forced to compete with cut rate, low quality competition, and are supposed to be grateful for the scraps the TPAs send them.

Insurance agents often have suffered the fallout of TPAs as they have been the direct contact for their insured who was dissatisfied by the poor job done by the TPA referred shop.

Understanding the challenges faced by Independent Glass Shops in the dynamic and rapidly changing auto glass industry, NGE was created to wrest back control of the industry from the hands of the TPAs and the corporate conglomerate glass replacement vendors.
